During reviewing a mammogram radiologist will look for several things. These are unusual shadows, clusters of white specks (micro calcifications), distortions, special patterns of tissue density, any mass and its shape, and differences between the images of both breasts. The radiologist can also ask you to show him/her previous mammograms in order to compare them to the recent ones. During the procedure of mammogram, the breast is pressed between two plates to flatten and spread the tissue. Unfortunately, this process will probably be uncomfortable. But you should remember that it is needed to get a clear picture of a high quality. The pressure will last for just a few seconds. And the procedure of mammogram doesn’t take more than 20 minutes.
